The old British Canoe Union used to say that the principles of paddle sport were; power transfer, feel, active posture and connection, and I think there is something in that. Sea boats vary enormously in design. Some are nimble and responsive, others less so, but regardless of what boat you are paddling you will get more out of it if you connect to it and control how it sits in the water. Add some seamanship, an understanding of weather, wind and navigation and you will have the skills you need to get the most from your boat. I can help you with the foundation skills on one for the NPF or BCU basic courses (NPF Intro Sea, NPF Grunnkurs Sea, BCU 3 Star). Once you are comfortable in your boat you’re ready for a guided trip to the more energetic water at the entrance to Oslo Fjord, on the south or West Coast of Norway or one of the iconic destinations in the North.
